My Music: November 2005 Archives

I called Basya last night to see if she was available to jam and to talk music biz — in light of 'recreating' myself in 5766, and with the help of My Love, I'm planning to move forward with my Music and to make manifest my mission as musician.... Not only was she down to jam, she invited me to join her on stage, to perform a few songs at the Mima'amakim 6th publication party, from which I've just returned. I recorded our rehersals. They're very rough, and uncompressed (they're 10-30MB .wav files), but I want to share them nonetheless: We did three songs together at the show (Something Will Come, Kankan, and Don't Walk In Front of Me) and Jake Marmer invited me up to beatbox on his song Zion Train. The show was an amazing mix of talent. I'm really glad I was there. I remember what I love about NYC: the people and the culture. Basya and I had met at Guitar Central downtown earlier in the day; I went planning to buy a looping pedal, but decided instead on a MIDI controller and headphones. I think this was the wise choice, as the former is a performing tool, and what I bought will help me with song writing and a demo. I beginning to liberate the musician in me....
